SVCC Preview

For those of you that are having SDCC withdrawals, myself included, there is an upcoming convention that has a history of delivering a good show. The fourth annual Silicon Valley Comic Convention located in San Jose CA is only a little over two weeks away. August 16th-18th are the dates that you need to reserve to come see the show that is the brain child of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. With attendance around 60,000 (about 1/2 of SDCC) SVCC is geared towards popular culture (movies, TV, comics etc etc.), but what makes SVCC stand out from other conventions is its focus on technology and science.

This years theme appears to be the Terminator franchise as several celebrities from the first three films will be in attendance including: Kristanna Loken (T3), Michael Biehn (T1, Aliens), Robert Patrick (T2), Jeanette Goldstein (T2, Aliens), Edward Furlong (T2), Danny Cooksey (T2) and THE Terminator himself Arnold Schwarzenegger! Other guests include Jason Momoa (Aqua Man, GOT), Morena Baccarin (Firefly, Deadpool), Ben McKenzie (Gotham, The OC), Donal Logue (Sons of Anarchy) and from WWE fame, Stone Cold Steve Austin! All guests will be signing autographs as well as taking photos with fans. Prices range from $30 all the way up to $450 for Arnold. Personally I plan on getting a Terminator 2 poster signed by all involved. Where is Linda Hamilton when I need her?!

I’ve attend the previous three SVCC’s and I must say that I have enjoyed each and every one of them. Year one was Back to the Future themed, year two was Star Trek themed and last year featured several guests from Star Wars. So if you’re suffering from SDCC withdrawals, SVCC is a great pick me up. Check out their site Here. Hope to see you there!
