One of the biggest parts about the San Diego Comic-Con 2016 experience will be all of the offsite events offered all around the Gaslamp District. In fact, there is so much to do that it is worth it to go even if you don’t have a ticket to SDCC! However, all offsite events are not created equal- so I have listed my favorites you might want to check out. Please note that times, locations, and prices (and requirement) are always subject to change so go to the respective websites for up to date info. (Listed in order of start times/dates)

Gam3rCon [Wed-Sun 12-12]
Gam3rCon returns to San Diego for it’s fourth year. This mini-con celebrates all aspects of gaming to include console, tabletop, retro, and more. Beyond the gaming, there will also be panels, a museum, and parties. If you love gaming of any sort, this would be an added bonus to your trip.

CONAN at Comic-Con [Wed-Sat, 3-5p]
The Conan Show returns for another week of filming at Comic-Con! This hasn’t been ‘officially’ announced by Conan’s people but it is listed on the ticket page which reveals that the shows will be taped from Wednesday to Saturday. Last year, Conan was a huge hit with special interviews with Hall H level celebs. This was definitely one of the more popular events. More to come!

Star Trek: Beyond World Premiere and Symphony [Wed 8p]
Star Trek Beyond, the next installment in the Star Trek franchise will have its exclusive red carpet World Premiere at Comic-Con on Wednesday, July 20. Plus it will be shown in the immersive IMAX format! This first-ever outdoor IMAX premiere event will include appearances by the film’s cast and crew, and a live concert performance by the San Diego symphony orchestra. As a special event for this year’s Comic-Con attendees, a limited number of fans will have the chance to attend this special screening. San Diego’s Hard Rock Hotel will be the home of one of this unique interactive main event to promote the upcoming Suicide Squad film. The Hard Rock will be transformed, complete with a live-action virtual reality experience, getting their own ink at Harley Quinn’s tattoo show and photo ops in the Belle Reve cells. One of the busiest offsite event returns celebrating HBO’s Game of Thrones, this time themed The Hall of Faces. In the past, the space has hosted several interactive experiences and photo ops. This year will probably focus on the House of Black and White. It has also had lines taking up to a couple of hours. So if you are going to do it, go early in the morning.

Filling the gap left by the beloved G4, Syfy will do the first-ever live broadcast from the confab airing nightly at 8 PM Thursday, July 21 through Saturday July 23. Hosted by Will Arnett, the broadcast will include celebrity interviews, breaking news, behind-the-scenes reports, along with sneak peeks of the hottest films, as well as audience interaction, games, and party coverage, according to Syfy. There will be a chance to be a part of the live studio audience but details have yet to be released.

Mini-con and fan favorite, Nerd HQ returns to San Diego! Zachary Levi and David Coleman’s uber brand The Nerd Machine is bringing fan favorite NERD HQ back to the New Children’s Museum. This marks the sixth year for NERD HQ to set up camp in downtown San Diego for the annual SDCC weekend. NERD HQ brings the nerd community a four-day haven to connect, recharge and enhance their Con experience.
