Open registration for SDCC 2017 has come and gone. Thousands of people now have their badges and can breathe a sigh of relief (at least until the downtown hotel sale). Unfortunately thousands, perhaps millions of people logged in yesterday and came away empty handed and now will have to wait until next year to try their luck. As for the sale itself, it went very smooth.
Just like the previous Returning Registration process, everyone logged into the EXPO Logic waiting room and were randomly assorted just after 9:00am. The blue circle stared back at thousands of hopefuls while they waited for their turn to buy badges. Nothing is perfect and there were a few glitches, but the problems were fewer than the previous return registration that occurred last month.
As usual Preview night sold out first followed by Saturday, Friday, Sunday and then Thursday. For the first time that I can remember Sunday badges sold out before Thursday. All badges were gone in approximately 70 minutes compared to 55 minutes last year.
If you didn’t get badges remember there is LOTS to do around the convention center and you can still be a part of a lot of fun activities. Additionally you can make new friends and possibly join a badge buying group for next year!
