If you are new to San Diego Comic-Con one of the most exciting parts are all the offsite events offered all around the Gaslamp District. Ranging from movie screenings, interactive experiences and mini-cons, there is something for everyone. In fact, there is so much to do that it is worth going even if you don’t have a ticket to SDCC! However, all offsite events are not created equal- so Ali has listed some of her favorites you might want to check out. Please note that times, locations, and prices (and requirement) are always subject to change so go to the respective websites for up to date info.

3A will be at the Sparks Gallery July 19-23rd. The exhibit is titled “Art Toys Sculpture” and will showcase some of their unique art and collectibles.

Legendary Digital Networks is bringing Nerdist and Geek & Sundry, as well as new service Alpha, back to San Diego Comic-Con for another year of Conival – but it’s on the move. The main, daily event on Thursday, July 20 – Saturday, July 22 (daily 11AM-5PM) will be moving to the Marina Terrace at the Marriott Marquis & Marina, where you can catch Nerdist laser tag (sponsored by Hulu’s Future Man), Geek & Sundry tabletop lounge, a Wonder Woman cosplay march, swag, and more.
Cory Doctorow Reading and Book Signing [Tues 7PM-9PM]
Cory Doctorow, author of Walkaway will be at the Comickaze Liberty Station on Tuesday, July 18th from 7-9PM. He will begin the evening with a reading from his book, followed by a Q&A session and book signing. Tickets can be purchased at Eventbrite. A ticket for $29.15 includes a copy of Walkaway, or if you are out of town, you can have a signed copy mailed directly to you for $36.15.

This annual live taping of Doug Loves Movies will be returning to SDCC on Wednesday, July 19th at 8PM. It will be held for those 21 and over at the American Comedy Co. Tickets are on sale now.

The Expanse Escape Room [10:00 AM – 7:00 PM] J St & 2nd Ave
Get ready to escape with The Expanse. Alcon Television Group is bringing a The Escape themed Escape Room to San Diego Comic-Con, where attendees transform into operatives trying to cover a sample of the dangerous but invaluable “Protomolecule”, only to become trapped aboard a derelict spaceship suffering total systems failure. Two teams of 4 to 5 players will use their wits to race to the airlock and escape from the ship before infection sets in, and time runs out. The activation will feature a number of props from the set of The Expanse. Varied prizes will be awarded to attendees that manage to complete the Escape Room and every guest will have the opportunity to take a green screen photo and receive a personalized The Expanse cinemagraph.
FANDOM Fest at Petco Interactive Zone [10 a.m.-6 p.m. Thurs-Sat; 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sun]
Everyday we’ll have a special fantasy food truck dishing out pop culture-inspired foods with Pepsi drink pairings, a lounge area for fans to congregate, and a stage that will feature special live versions of FANDOM programs, trivia games, cosplay shows, and talent interviews and panels. FANDOM Fest in free to Comic-Con attendees and the general public.
Fantasy foods will be inspired by Deadpool, Game of Thrones, Naruto, and Star Wars in the form of a spicy chimichanga, Fire and Ice Float, Ichiraku Ramen Taco, and Wookiee Cookie.
The stage schedule includes fun sessions like a special Q&A and performance from Game of Thrones The Musical, a Q&A and Cosplay show with the cast of Voltron and a Q&A with Guardians of the Galaxy’s Michael Rooker.
Game of Bloggers Season 3 [Wednesday 9p-12a]
Join the Crazy 4 Comic Con crew and other bloggers over at the House of Blues on preview night for an evening of socializing, networking, and all around fun. Game of Thrones “Winter Is Here” Experience [8AM-5PM] L Street Fine Art Gallery, 628 L Street
Winter Is Here experience. Fans who stop by will be welcomed to an immersive experience where fans can find individual, shareable touchpoints based on the world of Game of Thrones. Upon entering the “winterized” entrance, fans will be registered with their own Dragonglass RFID wristband that will capture each touch point of a fan’s journey throughout the activation, producing individual links with ready-to-be-shared pieces of content. The journey will take fans through Winterfell, Dragonstone, King’s Landing and North of the Wall. Every guest that goes through the experience will be given a custom SDCC Night King Funko Pop! Figure, a t-shirt featuring the Night King key art, and an exclusive Robert Ball Episode 701 mini-poster.

Are you a diehard Ghostbusters fan? Come to the Ghostbusters Mass Hysteria Fan Party organized by the Real Tampabay Ghostbusters. While I’m guessing that there won’t be any fire and brimstone, this looks to be a party of “biblical” proportions.

Game of Thrones: The Musical-A Song of Nice Satire [Fri-Sun 6 and 9PM]
Do you love Game of Thrones? Do you love musical theatre? Well, you’re in luck, because Game of Thrones: The Musical will be running July 20-22 with performances both at 6 and 9PM at the Tenth Avenue Arts Center. Various ticket packages are available now and if you order now, you can take advantage of some early-bird discounts. Game Masters: The Exhibition [Tues-Mon 10AM-5PM]
The Fleet Science Center is holding an exhibition from July 1st to January 15, 2018, that exhibits work from over thirty designers who have made significant impressions on video or online games. It takes viewers behind the scenes of video game creation as never before, and displays some of the world’s most popular games, of which over 100 will be playable.

Tickets to this event are now available on Brown Paper Tickets and range from $40-$95. $40 tickets are for DDs and don’t include alcohol. $75 tickets include 15 3oz beer samples, gourmet food stations, and an official Hop Con 5.0 glass. Additional ticket levels include a special tee shirt. Of course, Hop Con is only for those 21 and over, so before you hop into that Uber, make sure you have a valid ID with you.

This is year four for Heroes Brew Craft Beer Festival. This festival features over eighty craft brews from over forty different breweries. Kong: Skull Island Activation [8:30AM – 7PM] Lawn behind the Omni Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and Legendary invite you to experience firsthand the primordial wonders of Kong: Skull Island. The MonsterVerse comes to life at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 as fans get to visit a Monarch Containment Zone which houses the gigantic bones of Kong’s ancestors, enter the Iwi temple to uncover the ancient secrets of Skull Island, and navigate the beast-infested jungles of the island for a close encounter with the mighty Kong himself.
The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses [Sat 8PM]
The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the goddesses will return to San Diego on July 21st at The Civic Theatre. This 2 hour concert includes a 66 piece orchestra, a 24 person choir, and an exciting video collage of memorable moments. Tickets can be purchased through ticketmaster.com.

MST3K Live! [Fri-Sat 7-10PM]
Joel Hodgson, creator and host of MST300, and new host Jonah Ray, will bring the very first live touring version of the show to San Diego. Eegah will be shown on Friday, and a “Secret Surprise Film” will be shown on Saturday for the first time on MST3K. Tickets begin at $39.50 (+$3.50 facility fee), but if you want the full experience complete with meet and greet, photo ops, and lots of swag, you may want to consider one of the VIP packages. Pirate Con on the Star of India [Friday 8-11:59PM]
The Maritime Museum of San Diego will be hosting a Pirate Con onboard their tall ships. The event will be held July 21st and will be for guests twenty-one and over. A $35 ticket includes a drink ticket, appetizers, live music, and a Pirates of the Caribbean Funko Pop. After June 15th, tickets will be $40 online or at the door. Syfy and The Nerd Machine are throwing Nerd-HQ-style parties at San Diego Comic-Con this year – so bring a little of the magic of Nerd HQ to you. You can stop by Thursday or Saturday nights at 9PM at The New Children’s Museum for themed dance parties that feature photo booths, hourly surprises, live performances and more.
