Here is the latest installment of the SDCC Survival Guide powered by Shout! Factory. If you are new to the San Diego Comic-Con, one of the most stressful parts can be planning your budget. How much money does Comic-Con take to have a great experience? What do they charge for once at the con? What extra expenses are there? In this week’s episode, we’ll help answer that and more! Special thanks to @tvgoddess47 for sharing her first time story! @DustinMajitsu has a great Google doc to help you make a budget. Check out past shows, tweet this link out, and make sure to subscribe!

  1. good advice as always. i’m starting to have the con dreams. losing my flimsy badge even though it’s in my hand, running for no reason, getting lost in the con center. crowds that move like zombies. good sign or bad? normal?

    • Sounds about right. I have those dreams about half of the year! We’ll make it together- thanks for commenting and happy dreams!

  2. I started saving for 2015 con IMMEDIATELY after the 2014 con. I have approximately $4000 saved up and I plan on spending a minimum $2500 for all 4 days of the con. It really makes a difference if you start saving early. Takes A LOT of stress out of it of you are able to put money aside every time you get paid.

    • Well done! You are def a Comic-Con high roller and are reaping the benefits of setting a budget. Now you will have the freedom to just have fun! Thanks for the comment!

  3. I don’t think I’ve ever needed cash—in the 5 years I’ve gone, I’ve never bought anything off the show floor (maybe that would be different if the Funko line wasn’t insane or they let you preorder for con-pickup). For food I just use credit card at Ralph’s to stock up for morning/afternoon & at restaurants at night.

    • Thanks for sharing that- some readers definitely want to know can go without spending money. I too hardly buy anything except meals. Thanks for commenting!

  4. Great Tips! I’d also suggest preorder anything you can like #sdcc shirts etc. pick up is easier and it helps your overall budget to have something’s already paid for 😦

  5. You can really spend as little or as much as you want at comic con and have a great time.
    Have a tiny budget?
Get those exclusives online for a reasonable price a couple weeks after the hype has cooled down. Get free food and drinks at the many events going on outside the con. Restaurants also hand out vouchers and coupons around the con. Free swag!

    Have a big budget?
