Rose City Comic Con will be the bomb! Do people still say that? Anyhooo- I am super excited to be spending the next few days with some awesome Portland nerds! The first time I was there was a couple of years ago for Portland Comic Con when it was freezing and raining sideways- so looking forward to better weather. I am moderating some great panels (below) and make sure to check out the Rose City Comic Con site for all the programming and details.


From Script to Panel (11:00AM – 11:50AM)
Are you interested in being a writer? This is the panel for you. Join some of the best writers in comics to get their viewpoint on the craft of writing. Featuring Chris Roberson (Edison Rex), G. Willow Wilson (Ms. Marvel), Joshua Fialkov (The Life After), Jen Van Meter (The Death-Defying Dr. Mirage), Dennis Hopeless (Avengers: Undercover)

Spotlight: Greg Rucka (1:00PM – 1:50PM)
Eisner award winning writer and novelist, Greg Rucka has made a name for himself by crafting powerfully complex and human stories that can make the most fantastical characters feel real. Sit in on a conversation with the writer of LazarusStumptown, and Whiteout that gets to the heart of how he gives characters souls.

Spotlight: Kurt Busiek (2:00PM – 2:50PM)
super674This man is responsible for some of the most important comics in the last 20 years. From Marvels to Superman: Secret Identity, Kurt has written stories that get down to the very soul of the characters that have made superheroes so iconic. Hear the creator of Astro City tell all about his triumphant career in the industry.

Spotlight: Tony Moore (3:00PM – 3:50PM)
Tony is an Eisner nominated artist and co-creator of The Walking Dead and Fear Agent. He’s worked on some of the biggest characters in comics including The PunisherGhost Rider, and Deadpool. Join Tony to find out what it takes to be one of the most influential comic artists of the last decade.

Frame by Frame (4:00PM – 4:50PM)
Crafting the perfect page can be tough. Luckily we have some of the masters here to help you through it. Join Dustin Nguyen (Li’l Gotham), Michael Avon Oeming (Powers), Taki Soma (Rapture), David Marquez (Ultimate Spider-Man), and Yanick Paquette (Swamp Thing) as they give you their expert take on the craft of making comics.

Whovians (5:00PM – 5:50PM)

It’s not only a new season but a new beginning for Doctor Who fans. Join us for a wibbly wobbly time as ‘Whovians’ gather to discuss the latest adventures with our favorite Time Lord and companion. A panel of local Whovian experts will explore the significance of the past 5 decades, thoughts on the 12th Doctor (Peter Capaldi), and the future of Doctor Who. GeekFest Film Festivals is the world’s 1st traveling Geek Film Fest bringing you some of the best in genre programming from around the world to cons around the country. Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, Fan Films, Parody Music Videos, Trailers and much more. Created by indie film geeks, for indie film geeks. Rose City Comic Con presents the Best of GeekFest Shorts, spend 2 hours watching the Best of GeekFest Shorts, vote on your favorites, enjoy a Q and A with filmmakers and maybe win a prize! Spotlight: Ethan Nicolle (3:00PM – 3:50PM)
Ethan Nicolle is one part of the dynamic duo that brought you the hit comic series, Axe Cop, and most recently an animated series. Sit in on this already legendary panel that is all about the world he and his little brother made. If you’re lucky you’ll even get to ask some questions.

  1. Hi Tony. Haven’t said hello or checked in on here for a while but did say a quick hello at SDCC. Anyways, I gotta ask, do you bring the family to your Con events/obligations? If not, I still don’t understand how Erin let’s you leave the kiddos!! She really must be a saint! How’s Z? You should do another piece in Koream. BTW, for any one at SDCC Unofficial or anywhere else throwing anything negative at you, they really should read that article to understand what you’re all about and what you represent. It would really put all that petty stuff they’re doing in perspective. Peace brother. Oh, you doing NYCC? If not, probably won’t catch ya until WonderCon 2015.
