My Chicago Comic Con schedule


The next few days I will be at Chicago Comic Con that starts tomorrow and goes till Sunday. It’s a privilege to be moderating some great panels with an awesome group of talented panelists. What I am most excited about is the diversity represented and that I get a chance to participate in these interesting conversations . Overall, I’ll be moderating 9 panels over the 4 days which are listed below. Hope to see ya there!

As an artist, writer, actor, musician or creator, there is nothing more challenging than the development of the creative process. Is art birthed from the spontaneous or is it a result of a carefully crafted rhythm and structure? Whether it’s cultural barriers or societal sexism, super women have had to fight more than just crime in order to survive. Join us as Jenny Frison (True Blood; Spike; Revival; Angel), Joe Linsner (Dawn; Sinful Suzi), Chrissie Zullo (Cinderella: Fables Are Forever; Fables; Hack/Slash: The Series), and Dr. Rebecca Housel discuss the challenges and obstacles of creating relevant female protagonists in today’s male dominated industries. Whether you are a seasoned writer or a brand new one, the journey of writing a compelling story is a tumultuous one. Creative writing is often fill with all kinds of discouraging land-mines or creative dead-ends. Join three such visionaries, rapper Tech N9ne (Something Else; All 6’s And 7’s; K.O.D.), artist Rob Prior (Heavy Metal; Spawn the Impaler; Terminator), and Grammy Award winning hip-hop artist Darryl McDaniels “D.M.C.” (Run-D.M.C.; King of Rock) who are exploring the outer reaches of what art “should be” and how some of the most vibrant collaborations are ‘hidden’ right under our nose. The pop culture explosion through gaming, comics, TV, and film has opened up new opportunities for cultural diversity; however, many obstacles still exists. In this humorous but poignant discussion, diverse geek experts will discuss breaking ethnic stereotypes and what changes need to happen for us to boldly go into the future.
