Finally, Comic-Con gets the attention it deserves! A beautiful coffee table book was created to compliment the upcoming Morgan Spurlock documentary, Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope. This is a must for anyone who is a fan of the pop culture phenomenon, a cosplayer, or just plain nerd. DK Publishing was kind enough to send me an advance copy for review. Thanks DK!
At almost 200 pages, this hard-bound book is packed full of spectacular photos of the ‘nerdvana’ event that has occurred the third week of July for the past 40 years. Creators and actors share their experiences with the con and why it’s so important to our culture. Cosplayers (costume play) proudly display their wearable art varying from comics, movies, steam-punk, anime, and much more. Many of these costumed fans work year round just to show off their craft at this annual gathering in San Diego. The level of creativity and excellence these fans exhibit is inspiring. Lastly, there are pics of the showroom floor, lines for the infamous Hall H, and fans packed into panels. I am really proud of Morgan Spurlock, DK Publishing, and the other creators that were involved in this project. Comic-Con is one of the most unique events of the year and it is most deserving to be captured in a high quality coffee table book.
You can have your copy in hand this week from at Amazon for as low as $16.49- which believe me is a steal! However, for the serious enthusiast, Sideshow Collectibles is also offering a Collector’s Edition ($49.99) with all kinds of nice additions. Plus, this coffee table book would be a great autograph book for Comic Con! Buy your copy today!
