SDCC Hotel registration March 9th

Comic Con just posted the hotel registration today. It will begin Wednesday, March 9th at 9 am (pst). Here are some of the details and the hotels that will be available.

  • There are more hotel rooms available than ever before. Many of them are on the Comic-Con Shuttle routes.
  • Once confirmed, all hotel reservations will require a deposit of at least one night’s room and tax for each room booked. This will encourage people to release unwanted rooms in advance so people on the wait list can reserve them.
  • Hotel reservation deposits are fully refundable until May 10, 2011.
  • From May 11 to June 8, 2011, a $100.00 cancellation fee will be charged. The cancellation fee will be deducted from your deposit.
  • Starting on June 9, 2011, ALL DEPOSITS ARE NONREFUNDABLE.
  • TO MAKE RESERVATIONS: Visit this page or call 1-877-55-COMIC (1-877-552-6642) or 212-532-1660, Monday–Friday 9:00 AM–7:00 PM Eastern time. Please do not call or fax prior to March 9, 2011, 9:00 AM Pacific time.

  1. Nice. Do you know how it works for groups? I mean, I can say “a room for four” and that’s okay? Or each one has to do it on their own and then probably end up in different hotels?

    • Yes, you will be able to indicate your group needs but will have be open on which hotel. They juggle groups around based on supply and demand. Just one of you will be able to make the reservation, just have a few hotel choices ready. Good luck and thanks for visiting.

  2. I’ve been going for about 12 years, and really enjoyed these places in order, the Marriot ( adjacent ) besides the obvious, it’s great for meeting your favorite authors, celebes, and a great meeting place for friends and to just drop off all your stuff and cool off after a few hot hours at the con. Next it’s the Westin at the Horton Plaza. Great location for all the events in and around the con. Great Huge rooms, and decent food and room service. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel and its an easy 3 blocks away.
I also reaaly loved the Holiday Inn bayside. You can get a great room overlooking the pirate ships, and the rooms are huge and the food is great. Yes, you have to wait for the bus, but it’s also one of the cheaper ones too. I enjoyed the Marriott Gaslamp too, but the food is, well, we ate lots of Subway ( because it’s right accross the street. But you can get a huge room that looks right into Petco park and there are always exclusive parties on the roof.

Listen my hotel bill is huge after 5 days at the con, and we discovered that you can rent a one bedroom in the gaslamp for a month for what I paid for 5 days. So, thats the route we took last year and we LOVED it.

A word of advice here, take advantage of hotel promotions, and USE them to upgrade your rooms. If you don’t have a hotel promotions card, sign up before you get there. Don’t be afraid to ask for a better room when you check in. Get a frig for your room, and stock up on sodas and snacks at Ralphs. ( saves a ton of money).
If you have any questions, please just ask.

    • Wow, spoken as a true veteran! Thanks so much for the insight and detail. I really like the upgrade suggestion. Thx for visiting and commenting!
